If two people love one another what’s the big deal? We’re not hurting anyone……Right??
Wrong! You are hurting yourselve and your love one!
Sex outside of marriage is sin: 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 tells us to “18) Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19) Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20) you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
Pure love as God loves does not include sexual sin. In 1 Peter 2:11-12 it says “11) Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles (as we are to the things of the world), to abstain from sinful (lusts) desires, which wage war against your soul. 12) Live such good lives among the pagans (non-Christians) that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”
The Bible also tells us that “14) As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15) But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16) for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16
God calls us to be holy as He is holy. He forgives us so that we can go and show the rest of the world, by leading example, how followers of Christ are supposed to live. God Calls us to love one another as He loves us. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery. 28) But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Homosexuality is forbidden 1 Corinthians 6:9; “ Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,”
If you are experiencing any struggles with attraction to the same sex, you may come to the program staff for prayer and help to learn how to control these issues.
Non married people are to commit themselves to the family of God and to live celibate lives while they are participating in the Place of Restoration program.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4) that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5) not in passionate lust like the pagans (non-Christians), who do not know God;”
Lastly, while we are in the Place of Restoration program we will treat members of the opposite sex with the same respect that we would give to our mothers or our sister as they are a part of our spiritual family.
1 Timothy 5:1-2; “Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.”
It is my desire to be the man of God, HE has called me to be and to abide by the guidelines of this program that I agree with the above scriptures and will not engage or seek to engage in any intimate/sexual relationship whatsoever unless I am in a lawfully recognized and committed marriage before God and the state and this is approved by the program management.
